Together for equal opportunities: Leergeld Foundation
Sports and fun should be accessible to every child. Unfortunately, this is not a given for everyone. The Leergeld Foundation helps children from families facing financial difficulties to participate in sports, cultural activities, and school projects. This way, every child can take part and have the same opportunities as their peers.
Who is the Leergeld Foundation for?
The Leergeld Foundation is there for all children who want to participate but cannot afford to do so. This includes activities such as sports, swimming lessons, music lessons, or school-related events. Practical needs like a bicycle or a laptop can also be arranged through Leergeld.
With 113 local Leergeld foundations active in 78% of Dutch municipalities, parents can easily apply for support. Currently, around 1,500 volunteers are actively involved in the organization, helping more than 185,000 children each year. In this way, the Leergeld Foundation ensures that every child has equal opportunities to learn, play sports, and have fun.
Why we do this
Everyone deserves equal opportunities to participate. Sports, play, and activities contribute to children’s confidence, enjoyment, and social development. No one should have to stand on the sidelines because of something like a lack of money.
Together with the Leergeld Foundation, we make sure that all children can take part in sports and activities, regardless of their financial situation. We also aim to support sustainable participation in sports: even after the ASML Summer Games, we continue to offer children who need financial support the opportunity to keep playing sports. In this way, we create an environment where fun, movement, and learning together are central.
