What a finale: Hundreds of children enjoyed the ASML Zomerspelen Sports Festival

What a festive ending to the ASML Zomerspelen! Yesterday, hundreds of children from Eindhoven, Helmond, Veldhoven, Geldrop-Mierlo and Valkenswaard came together at the Jan Louwers Stadium of FC Eindhoven for a day full of sports, fun and surprises.

A sporty start to the grand finale

After five weeks full of sports clinics, the Sports Festival was the perfect moment for all participants to come together one more time. The day started with a joint opening hosted by Edwin Smolders, mascot Willy Wasbord and athletes from Team BrabantSport. After that, the children enthusiastically took part in a programme full of exciting sports activities.

Sports with top athletes from Brabant

During the Sports Festival, participants discovered different sports and had the opportunity to take part in clinics with top athletes from Brabant. They joined para athletics with Pierluigi Bomberg, gymnastics with Tisha Volleman, judo with Sanne van Dijke, baseball with Rick van den Hurk and handball with Ephrahim Jerry.

From learning new techniques to actively taking part themselves, the children discovered how much fun sports can be and gained a unique experience.

Fun, entertainment and enjoying the day together

Besides all the sporting challenges, there was plenty of time for fun and relaxation. The children enjoyed a healthy lunch together and were surprised with an energetic performance by influencers and YouTubers Maxime & Sophie.

A summer full of sports and unforgettable memories

The Sports Festival was the perfect ending to the ASML Zomerspelen 2026: a summer in which children discovered new sports, made new memories and, most importantly, stayed active.

A big thank you to all children, parents, volunteers, sports providers and partners who made this edition of the ASML Zomerspelen possible. Together, we look back on an amazing summer full of sports, connection and unforgettable moments!
